Getting to Knysna By road: Find the N2, which basically stretches between Cape Town (495 km west of Knysna) and Port Elizabeth (300 km east of Knysna) and drive through one of the most scenic parts of South Africa. For those of you from abroad: the N2 is in perfect condition, the maximum speed limit is 120 km, and we drive on the left hand side here in South Africa. Alternatively hop on the bus: Translux, Intercape and also the Baz Bus have regular services to Knysna from all major cities in South Africa. By air: The nearest airport is Plettenberg Bay (±30 km east of Knysna), but George (±70 km west of Knysna) has a more regular flight schedule. The nearest international airport is in Cape Town (±495 km west of Knysna). By water: With the majestic Heads being part of Knysna’s natural beauty, there is no more spectacular way of arriving than by boat. However, make sure your insurance company covers this trip, as the narrow passage through the Heads is said to be one of the most dangerous passages in the world. For international telephonic enquiries, dial the relevant international code, add country code +27 and leave the zero in front of the area code out.
